Her surgical and medical training in this field give her a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and proportions. Dr. Shternfeld is also trained to treat blepharospasm.Eyelid spasms occur when one or both eyelids twitch or suddenly close. These movements are involuntary, meaning that they are out of your control. Spasms are different than eyelid twitches. A twitch or a tic is a small movement usually caused by stress or being overly tired. They do not affect your vision.Botox can help treat Blepharospasm by relaxing the muscles around the eyelids to stop the spasms and provide relief from this (annoying) condition. Symptom relief can last for months! Although there are alternative treatments for Blepharospasm, like oral medications, none have proven to be as effective. As an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Shternfeld can help you with the safe and proven treatment option. If you are looking for relief from eye spasms, give her a call today!

As the old saying goes, “the eyes are the window to the soul”, and there’s so much you can learn from someone’s eyes. Believe it or not, one of the very first signs of aging is seen in the eyes. The skin around the eyes, eyelids, and brows often grow thinner with age and lead to common signs of aging. Here’s more on give common signs of aging eyes and how we can help at Inner Glow Spa.
- Dark Circles. They are the reason concealer was invited, right? As you age, you might start to notice those dark circles get more noticeable and prominent. They are often hereditary but can also be trigged by things like allergies and poor sleep. Medically speaking, they are caused by loss of collagen over time. We recommend Biopelle’s Dark Circle Relief cream that uses Vitamin K Oxide to help reduce the appearance of discoloration and dark circles under the eye.
- Hyperpigmentation. Dark circles or spots around the eyes can also be caused by true hyperpigmentation of the skin. Hyperpigmentation is often caused by sun exposure but can sometimes be a normal part of aging, especially in dark-skinned individuals. Microneedling is a great way to treat hyperpigmentation along with daily sunscreen use.
- Eye Hollows. The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and one of the first to show signs of aging. Selphyl Platelet Rich Plasma and dermal fillers, such as Restylane, can be used as minimally invasive treatments to improve the appearance of this area. Restoring the volume to your cheeks and under eye area is a great way to look younger.
- Crows Feet. This is a very common complaint from aging women. Crows feet are the wrinkles around the outer corners of our eyes. They are also commonly seen when we smile. Crows feet are easily treated with Botox which helps relax wrinkles and provide a more youthful appearance.
- Wrinkles. Crows feet are specific to the corners of your eyes, but dynamic wrinkles in your forehead and 11s area (area between your eyebrows) can also cause your eyes to look aged and tired. Botox is a great way to treat dynamic wrinkles and fine lines which will also help prevent further wrinkles.
Inner Glow Spa is happy to help with all of your skin care concerns when it comes to aging. We have a variety of treatments available to help your aging eyes and skin. Don’t forget that Dr. Shternfeld’s surgical and medical training as an Ophthalmologist give her a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and proportions.
Washing your face is like many other elements of a good health and beauty routine. Sure, you can do it fast by just splashing on some water and soap. You can cut corners by skipping lotion. You can sleep in your makeup and just ignore it all together…but your skin will pay.In the spirit of the back-to-school season, it’s time for a quick lesson on how to properly wash your face. Let Dr. Shternfeld walk you through the basics with this 5-step skincare guide you can start using today!
Know your skin type.
This is really important. Are you oily, dry, or combo? Do you breakout or have sensitive skin? Your skin care products should be tailored to fit your needs. Skin care is not a one-size-fits-all thing. Once you identify your skin type, search for products that specifically address your needs and skin concerns.
Don’t over do it.
A gentle 30 second scrub with a cleanser made for your skin type is all you need. You can actually wash your face too much or too harshly which can lead to irritation. Use small, circular motions with your fingers using warm water to open up pores. Make sure the water isn’t too hot.
Use a toner.
Washing your face is more than just cleansing. Incorporate a mild toner into your routine for amazing results. A quality toner can remove dirt, oil, makeup and bacteria to unclog pores. A toner can also help shrink your pores and restore your skin’s PH balance.
A good moisturizer works wonders. Not only does it hydrate and refresh, it helps with flaking and dullness. Your skin will be bright and creamy throughout the day and have an extra layer of protection if you use a moisturizer in the morning. When you going to bed, opt for a heavier anti-aging night cream.
This is the part of the skin care routine most women skip. Wearing sunscreen DAILY is essential no matter what your age or the season. Not only will it help keep your skin safe, it will help prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming.
In the spirit of back to school season, we’re sharing a page from our text book to help you better understand the wonderful, non-surgical benefits of a treatment known as Juvederm. We’ve written before about the difference between dermal fillers and Botox. They can both help transform your look in different ways. Here’s a few things you should know about the FDA approved dermal filler Juvederm.
What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is one of the top selling hyaluronic acid filler lines in the US. The Juvederm family of products includes Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Ultra and Ultra Plus. They are all made from Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring product in the body that attracts water and restores volume. These fillers have different viscosities and are used on different parts of the face to create a natural appearance and restore proportions. Correction of volume loss results in a younger looking, more youthful appearance.
What’s The Procedure Like?
Dr. Shternfeld will perform a medical history and provide a facial analysis. Be prepared to discuss your aesthetic areas of concern. The procedure itself can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on your needs. Dr.Shternfeld uses the advanced cannula technique to inject, which increases safety and reduces bruising.
When Will I See Results? You will see immediate improvement after the procedure. Maximum results can be seen 2 weeks or so after the injections, once the filler settles and incorporates into the body. Results can last 6 to18 months depending on the area treated and individual metabolism.
What Can Juvederm Treat?
Juvederm is a great treatment option for plumping lips, cheek volume loss, chin augmentation, as well as treating nasolabial folds and lines around the mouth. It’s very effective in getting ride of superficial lines and smoothing out wrinkles for a glowing, youthful appearance. To be able to get the best experience and results out of Juvederm, it’s important to work with a qualified professional.
Dr. Ilona Shternfeld at Inner Glow Spa has surgical and medical training as an Ophthalmologist which gives her a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and proportions. She has incorporated several advanced techniques, including the cannula technique and Dr. Swift’s BeautiPhication facial analysis for optimal results.
